Justice starts with one phone call.
This month, Panish, Shea & Boyle, LLP, announced a $17.1 million jury verdict for an 85-year-old injured man who called Walker Advertising in late summer 2012 looking for legal representation. The man was walking across the street in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a transit bus that was attempting to make a left turn. The 37,000-lb. bus ended up on top of the plaintiff, causing traumatic injuries, and resulting in the amputation of the gentleman’s right leg.
After our call center operator took the caller’s information, we immediately connected him with one of our attorney clients. Our client assembled a team of skilled trial lawyers, who uncovered that the bus driver had been involved in 3 accidents in the 6 years prior to this incident and had not received adequate driver training. The jury found that the defendant bus company acted with malice, and the jury awarded punitive damages of $17.1 million.
This is an example of how just one phone call can make a difference in providing resolution and financial relief for injured accident victims.
I’m proud that our call center operator handled this call in a professional manner, and that the diligence and expertise of our attorney clients brought justice and compensation to the plaintiff.
Ideally, the bus company and driver will change their policies so this doesn’t have to happen again in the future.
Whether consumers have suffered injuries from auto or bus accidents, pharmaceutical adverse effects, work accidents or medical malpractice, we are here 24/7 to help them find experienced legal representation. And our attorney clients are ready to defend the rights of these victims.
With us, justice is just a phone call away.
