Ford Motor Co. is recalling 26,400 trucks over seatbelts that, rather than preventing injury, may actually cause additional harm in accidents. The front passenger and center belts in the vehicles may be improperly aligned relative to the position of the seat. According to Ford, this could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Most of the affected vehicles are in the U.S., while a tiny minority are in Canada. Ford said that issue has not been linked to any injuries or deaths.
Once again, we see a vehicle that could be more dangerous because of a manufacturer’s mistakes. We should have the assurance, every time we step into a vehicle, that it is safe. Sadly, it seems that is something we can no longer take for granted, particularly with the spike in recalls over the last two years.
Dangerous products are a fact of life, but victims shouldn’t have to deal with their injuries alone. At Walker Advertising, we seek to make life easier for people who have been injured.
