GM Wins Second Ignition Switch Lawsuit

General Motors (GM) has won its second consecutive ignition switch lawsuit. The first case was dismissed following allegations the plaintiff gave misleading testimony regarding his finances and health. In the second case, the jury concluded that while the vehicle involved—a Saturn Sky—was dangerous to drive, the defective ignition switch was not to blame for the accident. GM hadargued the crash was caused by icy road conditions.

The case is one of six so-called bellweather trials against GM over the issue. The company indicated the bellweather trials covered a majority of the 235 pending cases alleging the defect caused injuries and deaths.
